エレノア・ヘルボッシュ（1999年生まれ）は、イギリス出身、ベルギーを拠点に活動するマルチディシプリナリー・アーティスト。土をはじめとする自然素材を中心に用い、豊かな質感を持つ作品を制作している。ロンドンのセントラル・セント・マーチンズにてセラミックデザインを学ぶ。現在はアントワープにスタジオを構え、制作活動を続けている。陶芸と絵画を横断しながら制作を行い、その両者をつなぐ共通項としてあるのが「土」という素材である。彼女の直感的かつ瞑想的な制作は、身体的なジェスチャーと素材との対話から生まれ、土そのものが持つ本質的な表情を引き出していく。また、儀式性や触覚への深い関心を背景に、古来より存在する「土」を顔料として用いる独自のアプローチも特徴的である。乾燥させ粉末化した土をインクと混ぜ合わせることで、自身ならではの視覚言語を展開している。
Eleanor Herbosch (b. 1999) is a British-born, Belgium-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice centers on natural materials, particularly earth, to create richly textured works. She held her first solo exhibition at the age of 19, and after graduating in Ceramic Design from Central Saint Martins in London, established her studio in Antwerp, where she continues to live and work.
Working primarily across ceramics and painting, Herbosch is drawn to earth as the common denominator between the two. Her intuitive and meditative practice emerges from a dialogue between gesture and materiality, bringing forth the intrinsic qualities of clay itself. Motivated by a deep interest in ritual and tactility, she uses this ancient material as a form of pigment, drying and grinding earth into powder before combining it with ink to develop her distinctive visual language.
